How route optimization works in Optiway Dispatch

What the optimizer does

Optimization takes an unordered pile of stops and turns it into routes a driver can actually run. It works on three things at once:

• Order — the sequence that covers every stop in the least driving time, not simply the shortest line on a map
• Balance — spreading the stops across the drivers you selected, so one van does not finish at lunchtime while another runs into the evening
• Constraints — time windows for stops that can only be visited between certain hours, and live traffic conditions

When the day changes

Plans rarely survive the morning. Add a stop, drop a driver who called in sick, or move a delivery to a different window, and Optiway re-optimizes immediately rather than making you rebuild the plan by hand.

Drivers get the updated sequence in the app, so the version in their pocket always matches the version on your board.

Keeping your own order

Sometimes the sequence is not yours to choose — a customer has to be first, or the load was packed in a fixed order. In those cases you can keep the stops as entered instead of optimizing, the same way the mobile app offers a route without optimization.
